Pastor Melanie Miller is a native of Paterson, NJ, and is married to Rev. Jimmie Miller, Sr. They are the proud parents of three sons, Jimmie, Jr., Jerome, and Jason, one daughter, Jetaime, and a nephew, Lamar. They are the blessed grandparents of eleven, seven girls and four boys.

Pastor Miller is a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy, and a prolific preacher, speaker, and teacher of the Word of God. She has ministered across the nation and around the world in Angola, Japan, Europe, and the Caribbean. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA in Higher Education, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, GA in Biblical Interpretation and Proclamation. She also holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University. Complementing Pastor Miller’s educational credentials is his extensive vocational experience, which includes engineering and architectural drafter, CADD technician, 6-12 technology teacher, and college professor.

Pastor Miller began her pastoral call in 2005 at Sycamore Hill AME Zion in Gatesville, NC. She was also appointed pastor of Martin Temple AME Zion in Compton, CA in 2010, and Varick Memorial AME Zion Church, Hackensack, NJ in 2013 where she faithfully served until being appointed to her current assignment, St. Paul AME Zion Church in January of 2022.

One of her favorite verses of scripture is Philippians 4:13 which states: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
